Where to start, this year has been full of hurdles and changes for George and all he touches. How becoming a mother has changed the way I see others and made me a stronger person.
Surviving the first year with George was a whirlwind, I was recently asked what he was like, sleeping at four months and I struggle to remember what he was like, I have to go by events, holidays and my blogs to recall. I feel the first year was made up of sensory groups, caffeine fuelled days, baby cinema and we had our personal link to the GP and A & E.
Whereas this year, is slightly easier, less nappies, poo is more consistent and less messy, however I say that now and tomorrow …. I will eat my words.
George will turn 18 months in two weeks and within these last six months, I would say its been all about movement for him, crawling at eleven months, standing at thirteen months, holding it for a couple of minutes at 15 months, taking is first steps last week and now zipping up the stairs in crawl mode in less than a minute laughing all the way.
I’m glad George took his time getting here, as I’ve seen all the other parents looking withered and felt their pain. Now I feel old, the other day my back was aching, that must be all those sudden movements I make when I have a struggling George in my arms trying to run off.
He’s so long now, gone are the days where I can carry my little baby in my arms up to bed, it is becoming a war and quick procedure of holding him under one arm or letting him tire himself out by climbing the two flights of steep stairs to bed. Which results in him having 3 hour day nap today at least, fingers crossed this will continue.
I was watching him eat his tea today, he started off with a spoon which then ended up with his little hand shovelling the beans in his mouth, then he just rubbed bean sauce all over his face and then did his famous manoeuvre with his right hand to sweep the rest of it in his hair. When finished, he demands for the next serving and points for it. He’s such a little boy now, however he is developing some naughty tendancies.
